About

The Research and Development (R&D) Cell of PSN Institute of Technology and Science (PSNITS) was established during the academic year 2018 - 2019 to promote and support research activities among faculty members, scholars, and students. The primary objective of the R&D Cell is to formulate effective strategies for scientific and technological research and ensure their successful implementation.

The Cell actively encourages supervision of research, initiation of innovative projects, and the promotion of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research. It also facilitates academic collaborations with national and international institutions, universities, and industries. The R&D Cell supports both government-funded and privately funded projects that contribute to the development of new or improved products, processes, and research outcomes. These activities further lead to quality publications, intellectual property rights (IPR), and technology transfer, thereby enhancing the institution’s research excellence.

Objectives

• To develop new tools and techniques to expedite problem solving with special emphasis on rural and socially relevant issues.
• To design novel methodologies in all the fields of Engineering and Technology.
• To acquire new scientific knowledge.
• Innovation-friendly society aimed at long-term development.
• To have Periodical interactive session with entrepreneurs/industrialists.
• To enhance skill development training and self-employment opportunities.
• To organize various workshops/training/seminar related to the promotion of research.

Functionalities

The Research and Development Cell of PSNITS undertakes the following functions and responsibilities:

• To create awareness and provide opportunities in research and development among students and faculty, thereby fostering a strong research culture across all departments.
• To identify potential research areas in various engineering disciplines and organize faculty members into specialized research clusters based on their expertise.
• To prepare and submit research proposals to funding agencies such as AICTE, UGC, DST, DRDO, and other organizations for sponsored projects.
• To promote interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research within the institution and in collaboration with external organizations and industries.
• To encourage faculty members to present and publish research papers in national and international conferences relevant to their specialization.
• To coordinate and streamline research activities across different departments of the institution.
• To motivate faculty to publish their research work in reputed, high-impact, and Scopus-indexed journals.
• To interact with various departments, guide and motivate faculty in undertaking research projects, and review research proposals before submission to funding agencies.
• To provide comprehensive support for research and development activities by offering full or partial financial assistance to innovative projects undertaken by students, faculty, and staff.
• To encourage participation in national and international conferences, training programmes, and technical events (such as those organized by IITs, NITs, and other reputed institutions) by providing financial support towards registration fees, travel allowances (TA/DA), and related expenses.

These initiatives collectively aim to strengthen the research ecosystem and enhance the academic and innovation capabilities of the institution.
